Jaguars reach a three-year extension with DL Roy Robertson-Harris
The Jacksonville Jaguars kick off the offseason with a very good move.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are kicking things off with a much-needed contract extension for one of their very best defensive players of 2023: Roy Robertson-Harris.
The defensive lineman avoids a contract year as his deal was set to expire after the upcoming season. He'll also be able to up his guaranteed money as he had no guaranteed salary remaining on his contract.
Mike Garafolo from NFL Network reported it's a three-year deal for $30 million for the Jaguars' standout. Robertson-Harris arrived at Jacksonville as a free agent in 2021 but now aims to stick around for a second contract.
The roster move not only means the team won't be looking at DL as a top need anymore.
But the 29-year-old's new deal is likely to help out the Jaguars' salary cap, as well. His cap number for the upcoming season was set at $10.1 million but it will likely be brought down with the new contract structure.
Before the extension, the Jaguars were approximately $12 million in the red, per Over The Cap.
Robertson-Harris was a force for the Jaguars last season. He led the team's interior defensive linemen with 37 total pressures. He also recorded 36 defensive spots, the third-most on the team.
He was particularly productive in the playoffs as he racked up five tackles for loss, two pass breakups, two QB hits, and one sack in two games.
