Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was massively disrespected on Thursday night, just days before he's set to play in Super Bowl LVII against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes was named the NFL MVP on Thursday night, which wasn't a major surprise — Mahomes once again put up mind-boggling numbers.
Hurts was in the mix for the award, finishing a distant second to Mahomes in voting.
Mahomes winning wasn't the disrespectful part — that was expected.
The disrespect came when two of the 50 voters didn't even list Hurts in their top five.
That's just absurd.
Hurts accounted for around 4,500 total yards and 35 touchdowns while throwing only six interceptions (while playing 15 games instead of 17 games).
If Hurts plays in 17 games, his numbers are pretty close to Mahomes' numbers.
I think most folks will respect Mahomes winning the award. But two voters not even having Hurts in their top five is ridiculous. It's an insult to a quarterback who was critical to his team's success in 2022.
Maybe Hurts can take his frustrations out on the Chiefs' defense on Sunday. A little added motivation never hurts.
