A reporter tried to get former Tennessee Vols offensive coordinator Alex Golesh to say something bad about the Volunteer State, but he wouldn't fall for it.

Golesh, who is now the head coach at USF, spoke recently about the Bulls' 2023 signing class.

A reporter asked Golesh if it was easier to recruit at USF after coming from a state without a lot of local talent.

Golesh didn't take the bait.

"I see what you did there," said Golesh in response to the question. "I can't sell out my former state. There's some really good football players [in Tennessee]. We'll eventually get a couple from there, so I'm not going to sell them out. [There are] some really good high school coaches in that state."

Golesh wasn't at Tennessee for a long time — only two seasons — but he's easily one of the more popular assistants in recent memory. He's smart, savvy, and can recruit at a high level.

One reason why Golesh is so popular in Knoxville is because he wasn't afraid to throw a little shade at Kentucky after the Vols' blowout win against the Wildcats this past season.

The "real football" comment was in reference to Kentucky quarterback Will Levis suggesting that Tennessee didn't play real football because of their offensive scheme.

It won't be long before Golesh has USF football on a roll.

And I have a feeling that Vols fans will be cheering for him and the Bulls every step of the way (as long as they don't play Tennessee).
