Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers gave the entire sports world plenty of offseason fodder on Sunday night by refusing to swap jerseys with Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Jameson Williams.

Rodgers told Williams that he wanted to hang onto that particular jersey which immediately led to folks assuming that it meant retirement was a possibility for the legendary quarterback.

The Rodgers retirement talk is real — he has a big decision to make this offseason. But that moment with the jersey likely wasn't a sign that he's leaning toward retirement.

Retired offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth, a four-time Pro-Bowler, appeared on "The Rich Eisen Show" this week and he had an explanation for Rodgers' actions that's hilarious and also makes a lot of sense.

Whitworth thinks Rodgers just had no desire to give his jersey to a rookie wide receiver.

The former Super Bowl-winning offensive lineman then added "no offense, [but] how much did he (Rodgers) talk to his own rookie receivers?"

Check it out:

Whitworth was making a joke, but at the same time, he's probably right. Rodgers likely wasn't thinking about the moment as much as he just had no desire to give his jersey to a rookie after the final game of the season.

Classic Rodgers. We should've known that the "jersey swap that didn't happen" had more to do with Rodgers' aversion to rookies than his retirement plans.
