Going into the off-season the Minnesota Vikings fired former Defensive Coordinator Ed Donatell. To replace him, the Vikings had three preferred candidates for the job:

Ejiro Evero, Sean Desai and Brian Flores.

Desai dropped out of consideration in the running, instead to keep his attention on Denver. Ironically, Evero had not yet been given permission to explore opportunities. Leaving Flores.

At the same time, Flores is in the running for a number of other DC jobs and taking interviews to fill as head coach, with a spot with the Washington Commanders seeming very likely.

However, in an ironic twist of fate, Evero was let go of his deal with the Broncos. Allowing him to explore opportunities, with him being the current favorite to land the Minnesota Vikings DC position.

At the time, Evero was still in consideration to remain with new Head Coach Sean Payton. However, with the Broncos letting him out of his contract, it allows him to explore options.

With the aforementioned Desai the favorite to replace him in Denver.

This would be Evero's second job as a Coordinator, having primarily coached the secondary as well been the quality control coach for most of his career.

His one season in Denver as DC ranked the Broncos 15th in scoring, 13th against the pass and 10th against the run. All of which were better than the Vikings.

Evero is a rising star among young defensive signal callers. His arrival in a division like the NFC North, as opposed to playing Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert twice a year should only improve his recognition.
