Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott, along with QB Josh Allen, met with reporters on Thursday for the first time since Damar Hamlin's collapse in the first quarter of Monday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
McDermott told reporters that when Mario Hamlin, Damar's father, spoke to the team this week, he told them that they needed to get back to the goals they set for themselves this season.
Hamlin's father told them that Damar would want it that way.
Allen said that hearing those words from Mario Hamlin was a big help to the team.
Thanks to an update from UC-Medical center on Thursday, we know that Hamlin is showing improvement, though he's still in the hospital and still on a breathing tube.
Hamlin was alert and able to communicate via writing. He even asked if the Bills won on Monday night, which, as Bengals offensive lineman Ted Karras said, is the stuff of legends.
The Bills are preparing for their game this weekend against the New England Patriots. Knowing that Hamlin is improving has helped the team in those preparations, but Hamlin is certainly still at the forefront of the players' and coaches' minds as the young Buffalo safety still has a long road ahead.
