This will probably surprise absolutely no one, but Cincinnati Bengals defensive back Eli Apple is still talking trash to the Kansas City Chiefs despite the fact that KC won Super bowl LVII on Sunday night.
Apple has been talking trash to Kansas City — and has managed to look foolish in the process — for over a year now.
Last year, after the Bengals beat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game, Apple taunted multiple Kansas City players by asking if they needed Super Bowl tickets.
After Cincinnati lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl, a couple of Chiefs players fired back at Apple.
Wide receiver Mecole Hardman, for example, tweeted a photo of his Super Bowl ring at Apple after the Bengals' loss.
On Sunday night, after the Chiefs' win against the Philadelphia Eagles, Apple took to Twitter to suggest that the "refs" won the game for Kansas City.
Apple was likely referring to the controversial holding penalty against Eagles defensive back James Bradberry late in the fourth quarter that gave the Chiefs a first down in the red zone. The holding call allowed Kansas City to wisely run the clock down to around 10 seconds before kicking the game-winning field goal.
I think every Chiefs fan knew that tweet was coming from Apple.
But what Apple completely ignores is that Bradberry admitted after the game that he held KC wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.
Once again, Apple looks foolish for his trash talk. Not surprising, though. I'm not sure Apple has ever not looked foolish after talking trash or throwing shade.
