Tennessee Vols guard Zakai Zeigler leaves game after non contact injury
Tennessee Vols pointed guard Zakai Zeigler left Tuesday’s game against Arkansas with a knee injury
Tennessee Vols guard Zakai Zeigler was forced to leave UT's game against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Tuesday night due to injury.
Zeigler was carried off the court early in the first half after suffering a non-contact injury to his knee.
While running the baseline, Zeigler planted his foot and immediately fell to the floor in pain.
Thompson-Boling Arena fell silent as Zeigler grabbed at his left knee while laying on the court.
We're certainly not going to speculate, but the injury didn't look promising. Non-contact knee injuries can often be devastating. Everyone in college basketball, however, is surely hoping for good news for Zeigler.
The New York native is the engine that makes Tennessee's offense go. As Charlie Burris said during a recent episode of the Big Orange Podcast, the Vols go as Zeigler goes.
Without Zeigler on the court, guard Santiago Vescovi will handle Zeigler's point guard duties.
Update:
According to ESPN sideline reporter Marty Smith, Zeigler has officially been ruled out of the game against Arkansas.
