Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan shut down one potential scenario in 2023 that some fans wanted to see.

Callahan was asked at the NFL draft combine in Indianapolis on Wednesday about the possibility of offensive lineman Jonah Williams moving from left tackle to right tackle.

The idea is that Williams would be more effective at right tackle.

Callahan, however, suggested on Wednesday that Williams moving from left tackle to right tackle isn't an option in 2023.

"Moving him would probably be pretty difficult," said Callahan. "It's probably not something that he would be necessarily excited about either. I'm sure as a team-first guy he would do it if it's what was best for us."

"It's a hard switch to make for a guy that's played a lot of snaps at left tackle over his career and very minimal at right," added Callahan. "He did some at Alabama, but as far as a pro, that's a pretty difficult switch."

Williams is entering the final season of his rookie deal and it seems unlikely that he has a longterm future as the Bengals' starting left tackle.

The best thing for Cincinnati to do — since they can't release Williams (his fifth-year option is fully guaranteed) — would be to bring in some competition for the 25-year-old left tackle.

Someone like Taylor Lewan, who was recently released by the Tennessee Titans, would make a lot of sense.

Lewan has a lot to prove after missing most of last season with a torn ACL. When healthy, he'd be an upgrade over Williams. But he has to prove he can stay healthy.

Signing Lewan to a one-year "prove it deal" could be an ideal scenario for the Bengals.

Lewan, for what it's worth, has already expressed interest in playing for Cincinnati, so it probably wouldn't be too hard to recruit him to Ohio.
