Clarity on the Titans' plan to cut Bud Dupree
ESPN’s Adam Schefter provides some much-needed clarity on the Titans’ decision to release OLB Bud Dupree.
Some much-needed clarity has been provided on one of the Tennessee Titans’ most recent roster adjustments.
On Monday, multiple reports surfaced stating that the Titans intend to release OLB Bud Dupree after just two seasons with the team. The move was being made in order to create more salary cap space.
As of Thursday, the Titans had yet to cut the cord on Dupree. ESPN’s Adam Schefter explains that Tennessee is unable to release Dupree until the start of the league year, which kicks off on March 15.
The Titans’ plans to cut Dupree have not changed, but the team will have to wait until next Wednesday to officially part ways with Dupree, which would save $9.35 million in salary cap space.
Dupree’s impact was felt on the field when he was healthy, but he only played in 22 games in his two years with the Titans. He compiled 35 tackles, seven sacks, and eight tackles for loss in his time with Tennessee.
Dupree will be free to sign with another team once the NFL’s free agency period officially begins.
