The Dallas Cowboys will have to decide the futures of a plethora of free agents soon, and one of the biggest is safety, Donovan Wilson.

On Friday, the Cowboys did some savvy business by restructuring the deals of quarterback Dak Prescott and right guard Zack Martin to clear about $30 million in cap space.

As important as that was, it may not be enough to keep Wilson in Dallas.

According to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys met with Wilson's representation recently, and although they desire to have him return, paying his market value is the issue.

According to Pro Football Focus, Wilson is projected for a two-year deal worth $11.5 million with $7 million in guaranteed money. Also, per ESPN, Wilson is one of the most underrated free agents so suitors could be blowing up his phone if he hits the open market.

The former sixth-round pick has certainly earned the right to get paid.

Wilson has excellent in 2020 with 71 tackles, two interceptions, three passes defended, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and 3.5 sacks.

His 2021 campaign was derailed by injuries that caused him to miss eight games. However, last season was a return to glory for Wilson.

Wilson lead the Cowboys with 101 tackles (career-high), snagged an interception, had two passes defended, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and five sacks (career-high).

Wilson an integral part of defensive coordinator Dan Quinn's defense, but bringing him back seems to be a little more challenging than the Cowboys originally thought.
