Updated look at the Chicago Bears’ 2023 draft picks
Can the Bears turn it around with this draft?
The Chicago Bears are coming off a 3-14 season, but there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
Justin Fields emerged as a QB, and there were flashes of progress from many young players. The Bears also are in a great position to improve their roster during the offseason.
Editor's note: This post has been updated since the Bears traded the No. 1 overall pick to the Panthers on Friday
The Bears will have 10 picks in the upcoming draft after trading the No. 1 overall pick to the Panthers. The NFL also gave the team a supplemental seventh-rounder on Thursday.
Below is a list of the Bears' picks:
- Round 1, Pick 9
- Round 2, Pick 53 (from BAL)
- Round 2, Pick 61 (from CAR)
- Round 3, Pick 64
- Round 4, Pick 103
- Round 4, Pick 133 (from PHI)
- Round 5, Pick 136
- Round 5, Pick 148 (from NE via BAL)
- Round 7, Pick 218
- Round 7, Pick 258
The Bears received the ninth overall selection and the 61st overall, as well as a 2024 first-rounder, a 2025 second-rounder, and wide receiver D.J. Moore from the Panthers.
The Bears traded their original second-round pick to the Steelers for WR Chase Claypool. Claypool was relatively quiet after the trade but should be a big piece of the Bears' offense moving forward.
The Bears have two second-round picks since they acquired the Ravens' 2023 second-round pick and a fifth-round pick in exchange for linebacker Roquan Smith.
The Bears also have an extra fourth-round pick they acquired from the Eagles in exchange for Robert Quinn.
The only round the Bears will not select in is the sixth round, as they traded their sixth-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for WR Jakeen Grant.
Between the draft and free agency, there is plenty of reason for the Bears to become one of the NFL's most improved teams once September rolls around.
