Around this time every off-season, fans of the Dallas Cowboys hope and pray that a big splash in free agency will happen, but it never does.

Well, according to ESPN's Todd Archer, expect more of the same in 2023, as the Cowboys won't be major players when it comes to adding big names to their roster when free agency kicks off.

The three names that Archer mentioned should certainly be in the Cowboys' plans.

Donovan Wilson is coming off of a career year in terms of tackles (101) and sacks with five. He also added an interception, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

The Cowboys recently met with Wilson's representation about his future. Although they are uncertain if they want to pay his market value, the Cowboys are interested in bringing the stud safety back.

Leighton Vander Esch played well enough in 2021 to earn a one-year deal last offseason. He capitalized on it by finishing second to Wilson with 90 tackles, his most since his rookie campaign when he was named a second-team All-Pro.

Dante Fowler showed he still had some juice left last season.

Despite not logging a single start, Fowler finished tied for third on the Cowboys with DeMarcus Lawrence in sacks with six.

The Cowboys have been linked to big-name wide receivers like Odell Beckham Jr. and DeAndre Hopkins.

Beckham had a workout recently that several teams attended, and the Cowboys weren't one of them. That doesn't mean that they couldn't bring him in, but with a plethora of other teams interested, the price may be too high for the Cowboys' liking.

The Cowboys would have to trade for Hopkins. He's been seen with former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant recently in Dallas. However, the Cowboys will have to compete heavily for his services as well.

So, during the first week of free agency, expect the Cowboys to be relatively quiet, as usual.
