The Dallas Cowboys had a busy day of making moves on Wednesday.

Probably the most significant one was the contract restructure of eight-time Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith.

Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, some key details of Smith's deal have come to light.

Smith was set to have a base salary of $13.6 million with a cap hit of $17.605 million in 2023. The Cowboys gave Smith a $3 million signing bonus and a $3 million guaranteed base salary. So, essentially, Smith took a pay cut of $7 million, but there's a catch.

Smith can earn up to $9 million more in playing time incentives and another $2 million in playoff incentives. This means if Smith can stay healthy and the Cowboys were to win the Super Bowl, Smith can make up to $17 million, $4 million more than his original base salary.

Todd Archer of ESPN provided some more info on Smith's contract.

Playing time incentives, $1 million for each: 50%, 55% 60%, 65%, 70%, 75%, 80%, 85%, 90%

Other incentives (75% of regular season snaps + 51% of playoff snaps):

One win-$500k

Two wins-$500k

Three wins-$500k

Super Bowl win-$500k

Archer also mentioned that if the Cowboys earn a first-round bye and Smith plays 75% of the regular season snaps, he would still earn $500k for the first playoff victory.

The Cowboys cleared $9.6 million in cap space by getting Smith's hit down to $8.005 million for 2023.

2024 and 2025 are voidable years on Smith's deal.

This is a win-win for both sides. Dallas gets cap relief, and Smith can make even more money with the incentives included if he's healthy.
