The Dallas Cowboys filled a big need by acquiring wide receiver Brandin Cooks on Sunday via trade from the Houston Texans.

After the 2022 season ended, Cooks made it known that he didn't want his NFL career to continue in Houston after they parted ways with former head coach Lovie Smith, sighting that being a part of a rebuild wasn't something he wanted anything to do with.

Cooks joins an explosive offense in Dallas, and he is very grateful.

"Man, honestly, I just feel blessed for this opportunity to contribute to something that's already special," Cooks said, via Click2Houston. "For the Jones family to believe in me, I look forward to joining something special and I bring that mindset everywhere I go."

Cooks has been in the league for nine seasons and he's been very productive. He's registered six 1,000-yard campaigns, and he's done so with four different teams, at times with inadequate quarterback play.

The speed of Cooks gives the Cowboys something they've lacked at wide receiver since the Stone Age it seems like and his versatility playing on the outside and in the slot increases his value.

First things first though, and that's getting Cooks accumulated to how the Cowboys do things offensively. Quarterback Dak Prescott is already getting started on the 2023 season as he was seen working with receivers and tight ends recently, and Cooks mentioned how important it was to join the team in time for the off-season program.

"I think that’s huge, especially during this time to establish myself and build with my teammates when the offseason gets started and their culture," said Cooks. "Very important and I’m thankful."

Adding Cooks to the offense was immensely smart by the Cowboys, and the Texans paying a third of his salary next season makes it an even better move.
