The Las Vegas Raiders made a lot of changes to their roster during free agency. They signed, they released, they traded, and they let guys walk. Just a little bit of everything happened during one of the crazier weeks of the NFL season.

One of the more talked about signings was quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, which would only have fans and media assume that is the guy they wanted. He has been with Josh McDaniels before and knows how to run that system

But some people seem to think the Raiders can still take a quarterback with their first pick, which is also very possible. That decision left 2022 starter Jarrett Stidham deciding to play elsewhere. Elsewhere being in Denver, with the Raiders' biggest rival.

It's safe to assume that Stidham chose Denver because of the two-year, $10 million deal. But one NFL analyst, Peter King of NBC Sports, thinks there is another layer to that.

I hear Stidham figured with Garoppolo coming and the chance the Raiders could take a quarterback with their early first-round pick, he’d have a better chance at playing time under Sean Payton in Denver.

Now, that makes a ton of sense. Why would he want to be the third-string guy, or even possibly be cut or put on the practice squad during the season? Instead, he chose a better opportunity for him, especially knowing now how 2022 went for Russell Wilson.

However, this is what Stidham had to say about why he joined the Broncos:

"I think the main thing was, coach Payton obviously being a huge fan of him and, you know, his time in New Orleans from whenever I was a little kid and whenever he was, you know, coaching Drew Brees throughout the years," Stidham said during his signing day. "So, really, that was probably the main reason for just getting to play under him and getting to work with him every day."

No matter why he did it, Stidham was great when he wore the silver and black. He did what was best for him and I don't think people should necessarily jump on him for it.
