The New Orleans Saints have lost some depth pieces along their defense. There's a lot of discussion about their defensive line.

Cameron Jordan is still playing at a high level. They have young players like Payton Turner that they need production from this year. Khalen Saunders and Nathan Shepherd are additions that the Saints believe in to help their depth on the interior.

That leaves Carl Granderson as the other impact player on the roster for the DL.

Granderson was a marvel last season when he got consistent playing team. He, along with Kaden Elliss, may have been two of the most under-the-radar players for the Saints a season ago.

Now, Granderson appears to have a larger role for the Saints after the departure of Marcus Davenport to Minnesota.

The Saints edge rusher recorded a 80.4 grade, according to Pro Football Focus.

That's eye-popping for a player that hasn't seen an expanded role quite yet.

It remains to be seen if the Saints add another veteran DE or draft one early in this class. Regardless, Granderson should instill some confidence in fans and the staff after an impressive year last season.

He totaled 8 sacks and 39 solo tackles.

His pass rush ability showed up more often than it ever had before, and his energy was exciting for the entire defense.

Granderson will look to build on it in a bigger role this season.
