National media predicts big season for Cowboys' star

The Dallas Cowboys have been one of the best offenses in the NFL over the last several years, leading in yards per game in 2019 and points per game and yards in 2021.
Of course, a lot of that can be attributed to quarterback Dak Prescott who threw for nearly 9,400 yards and 67 touchdowns in those seasons. Despite coming off of a year where he was tied for the league lead in interceptions, Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport listed Prescott as a dark horse to lead the NFL in passing yards in 2023.
The Cowboys can talk up Tony Pollard as the focal point of the Cowboys offense until they are blue in the face. But we don't know that Pollard can be the workhorse back Ezekiel Elliott was, and the addition of Brandin Cooks at wideout was a big get. As recently as two years ago, Prescott flirted with 4,500 passing yards.
Prescott certainly has the weapons to do it.
As Davenport mentioned, Cooks being on board will help Prescott immensely because of his versatility to play outside and in the slot, plus his ability to stretch defenses whether it be vertically or horizontally. Michael Gallup will be back to full health in 2023, giving the Cowboys a very solid outside threat as an X receiver.
The Cowboys' top dog in the receiver room is without question, CeeDee Lamb. Lamb has versatility as well. However, with Cooks in the mix, and him playing primarily on the outside, Lamb will get to play more in the slot which is where he's flourished over the last three seasons.
Although Dalton Schultz is no longer in Dallas, the Cowboys have a lot of potential at the tight end spot. In addition to being on the line of scrimmage, Jake Ferguson logged 37 snaps in the slot and 14 as an outside pass catcher per Pro Football Focus. As a rookie in 2022, Ferguson caught 19 of his 22 targets for 174 yards and two touchdowns.
Peyton Hendershot, also a rookie a season ago, hauled in 11 of his 16 targets for 103 yards and two scores. He too has versatility with 93 snaps in the slot and 20 out wide last year.
Dallas will undoubtedly add another weapon to their passing attack in the NFL draft, giving Prescott another toy to play with.
It won't be easy to beat out guys like Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, or even Aaron Rodgers. However, Prescott has as many weapons as any quarterback does, so it'll be interesting to see what his numbers will be like at the end of the 2023 season.
