Mingo's senior year was his best season yet, tallying 861 yards and 6 total TDs. Mingo played in an Ole Miss offense that was known for spreading the ball around in the passing game, while running heavily. So despite never being a star WR1, compared to other WRs in this draft class, Mingo is still a strong prospect that draws comparison to AJ Brown, another former Ole Miss Rebel, because of his size, ball skills, and ability after the catch. Mingo did most of his damage last year on contested catches, a stat that's a double-edged sword, since it means that Mingo wasn't getting as open as some other WRs do.Ole Miss WR Jonathan Mingo Film Breakdown

Strengths:

  • Size: Mingo has broad shoulders and long limbs, making him a great contested catch WR and downfield threat.
  • YAC: Mingo has elite run-after-catch skills, making him a danger on quick passes or screens.
  • Speed Stamina: Despite his 40 time, Mingo is a much better deep ball threat than that time would suggest. He gets faster the deeper he gets.
  • Blocking: Mingo is not afraid to lay some pancakes on opposing DB's downfield when running the ball.

Weaknesses:

  • Zone Recognition: Mingo needs to improve on finding the open spots of the field when facing zone coverage.
  • Route Running: Mingo lacks creativity in his route running. He needs to improve his route running ability to take the big leap that is the NFL.
  • Explosion: Mingo lacks the lightning first step to shake DB's at the line of scrimmage and create separation.
