The Pittsburgh Steelers entered the 2023 NFL Draft with a lot of questions to answer and a lot of holes to fill. They seem to have struck gold in the first round with their selection of Broderick Jones, and three-day two picks including fan favorite Joey Porter Jr., before rounding out the class on day three.
Now that the hay is in the barn, the Steelers front office is already fast at work on undrafted free agents, as they look to add to their impressive class.
So, who are the newest Steelers from the 2023 NFL Draft? Let's take a look and find out.
Pittsburgh Steelers 2023 NFL Draft Class
Pick 14 from N.E, Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia

The Steelers decided it was better to move up and get their potential tackle of the future as opposed to waiting another three sections and potentially losing out on the upside of Broderick Jones. They will certainly hope he provides the start of a new era of dominance in the trenches of Pittsburgh.
Round 2-No. 32 Overall: Joey Porter Jr., CB, PSU

Porter Jr. has been linked to the Steelers since, well, probably the day he put on pads, but more realistically throughout the pre-draft process. When the clock struck 7:00 P.M. Eastern on Friday night and Pittsburgh was on the clock, they made the only choice that was reasonable given the fact that Porter Jr. fell out of round one.
Round 2-No. 49 Overall: Keeanu Benton, DT, Wisconsin

The Steelers know that the defensive line is probably the strongest group on the entire team. They also know that as dominant as the group is, Cam Heyward, “Larry O”, and others can’t play forever, not to mention their lack of depth and talent at the nose tackle position. Benton is sure to fix that.
Round 3-No. 93 Overall: Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia

The dual-threat tight end ended up falling all the way to round three after teams cited some medical concerns, but the Steelers obviously felt comfortable enough to draft the talented pass catcher-tackle hybrid, as he looks to be a force in both the passing game and run blocking unit for Pittsburgh.
Round 4-No. 132 Overall: Nick Herbig, LB, Wisconsin

Herbig comes to Pittsburgh as immediate depth as an edge player, with the upside to be a significant contributor as a designated pass rusher in the NFL. The brother of newly signed free agent, Nate Herbig, the two will look to be valuable pieces on the 53-man roster.
Round 7-No. 241 Overall: Cory Trice Jr., CB, Purdue

Trice is a tall drink of water at over 6’3” and sturdy, with 206 pounds of lean musculature. Pittsburgh is obviously coveting length as they overhaul the secondary with the addition of Patrick Peterson, Joey Porter Jr., and now Trice, all of whom are over 6’2”.
Round 7-No. 251 Overall: Spencer Anderson, C, Maryland

Anderson is a large center, measuring in at over 6’5 and nearly 310 pounds. He was listed as an offensive lineman on his draft card, meaning the Steelers may envision him at guard if he makes the roster.
- Round 1, No. 14 overall (from N.E) Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia
- Round 2, No. 32 overall: (from CHI) Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn St.
- Round 2, No. 49 overall: Keeanu Benton, DT, Wisconsin
- Round 3, No. 93 overall: (from Car via SF) Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia
- Round 4, No. 132 overall: Nick Herbig, LB, Wisconsin
- Round 7, No. 241 overall: Cory Trice Jr., CB, Purdue
- Round 7, No. 251 overall: Spencer Anderson, OL, Maryland
In Omar Khan's first draft as GM, he seemingly hit a grand slam when a double would have pleased many fans. He drafted a potential cornerstone and franchise left tackle in Broderick Jones, only to follow up with fan favorite Joey Porter Jr.
He would then add multiple Wisconsin Badgers in Keeanu Benton and Nick Herbig, both of whom could have significant roles on the team, with a hybrid weapon in Darnell Washington sandwiched between the two.
He wrapped up the draft taking a flyer on some large prospects, with the hopes hey can provide a special teams floor and potential late-round gem ceiling. All in all, Steelers fans should be enamored with their haul.
