The Kansas City Chiefs could be adding another player to their roster soon through free agency, according to their general manager.
The Chiefs just wrapped up their 2023 NFL Draft, where they were the host city and the team with some of the best picks in the draft based on positional value. But, they aren't done yet. They are adding undrafted free agents still, and a guy they are all too familiar with.
The Chiefs general manager Brett Veach just gave away the secret that the Chiefs will be bringing back 2022 running back Jerick McKinnon, who was a fans favorite and one of the best playmakers on the team.
McKinnon was the all-around running back the Chiefs used a ton when Clyde Edwards-Helaire was out. He was the best pass blocker and pass catcher at the running back spot, and he wasn't bad when it came to the run game either. He was a valuable piece of the Chiefs 2022 Super Bowl run.
On Monday, the Chiefs general manager, Brett Veach, let everyone know we could expect the free agent to be signing soon.
"Well, yeah, I mean, obviously we have a, you know, a longstanding relationship with Jerick [McKinnon] and we've had communication so I wouldn't be surprised if something that done with him soon," Brett Veach said in his post-draft press conference.
The Chiefs would love to have him back and bringing him back would only make the roster better. It's almost like Veach was breaking his own news, but hopefully his sources are right and we see McKinnon back in red and white.
