3 Lions with things to work on after Lions' minicamp

Last week the Detroit Lions wrapped up their mandatory mini camp and OTA's. Now it's time for the Lions to go on their last vacations before it's time to get things going at training camp.
Until then, we'll be talking about the guys who shined at OTA's and mandatory mini camp. We'll also talk about the guys who have things to work on. There were a decent amount of both, but we'll be carving it down to the three that stood out the most on both sides. We already talked about those who shined, now we'll go the other way.
I know the typical thing we would do here is talk about winners and losers. Some guys did win. I don't know if the Lions really had anyone I would call a loser at this point though. They more so had guys that needed to work on some stuff. Let's talk about those guys.
Jameson Williams
For the most part, Jameson Williams looked pretty good. We talked about Jahmyr Gibbs putting up some highlights in the counterpoint to this article, but Williams also put up some highlights that had people excited. There's been some bumps in the road though. Williams has had some issues with drops at camp.
Ok, relax. Just calm down and please go put your pitchfork back in the shed. There will be no need for riots in the streets today. This is not an Eric Ebron situation. Drops happen and if anyone has an excuse, it's the guy that hasn't played a full football game since January of 2022. He's also going through offseason activities for the first time in his career.
There's time to correct these issues. If Williams is struggling with drops in December, then we can talk about it being a real problem.
Kicker controversy
I'm cheating a little here. I know I said three guys, but the Lions suddenly have a kicker controversy going into training camp. The incumbent Michael Badgley is going to have to fight to keep his job against last years camp darling Riley Patterson and the XFL's best kicker in Parker Romo.
The problem here is that all three of them had their struggles at mandatory mini camp. Nothing to get too worried about. There won't be some sort of 2014 type situation where the Lions seemed to have a different guy every week until Matt Prater showed up.
The problem is that none of these guys have definitively pulled ahead of each other quite yet. There's still plenty of time for that to happen, but right now the whole position is a question mark. It would be nice to see someone showing up to camp ready to take this job.
Jared Goff
Remember earlier when I told you to relax? Keep doing that. This problem may have already begun to be fixed. Jared Goff was a bit off at the start of OTA's. There's a reason for it and that reason is chemistry.
While Goff is year two with Ben Johnson and a lot of his offensive weapons, he has a lot of new guys that he has to get on the same page with. Jameson Williams being one of them. Even though Goff threw him a few passes last season, these guys haven't really worked with each other yet. Especially not tot he degree they're about to.
Jahmyry Gibbs and Sam LaPorta also bring some new wrinkles to the game for Goff. This is something that can be worked on during camp. It might also get worked on before camp. Last July Goff got with his pass catchers in California to continue to work on stuff. Maybe they'll do that again. Either way, this shouldn't be a major concern at this juncture.
Is the deep ball really a problem for Jared Goff?
