We talked earlier this week about the NFL potentially suspending a fifth member of the Detroit Lions. It seems that suspension has come down. On Thursday afternoon, Adam Schefter announced a handful of suspensions via his Twitter.

The fifth Lion to be suspended is more than likely defensive tackle Demetrius Taylor. The Lions chose not to bring him back after the 2022 season and released him in May. He is now a free agent.

The key part of The Athletics report about a fifth member of the Lions being investigated was that the player in question was was "not a prominent member of the 2022 team." We noted in our report on Wednesday that the player may not even be with the team anymore. Taylor fits that mold. He played one game for the Lions last season and spent the bulk of the year on the teams practice squad.

Taylor will be serving an indefinite suspension. That will probably mark the end of his career. The one key constant here is that it seems to be just young players that are getting suspended.

The NFL has done a lackadaisical job of educating young players about the gambling policy. They did just announce that there will be an increase in education, but its too late for the players that are now going to be suspended.
