The Seattle Seahawks have a young stud on their team who is set to be soon one of the best players at his position as NFL execs rave over him.

It wasn't quite at the Sauce Gardner level for rookie seasons, but did Tariq Woolen have a hell of a first year? The Seahawks showed that they know how to draft and had arguably the best rookie class in 2022, headlined by Pro Bowl rookie cornerback Woolen.

That's right, he made the Pro Bowl as a rookie, and I don't know how many people saw that coming considering where he was drafted. He inserted himself into the conversation as one of the ten best cornerbacks in the league, and while he didn't make the cut, he was an honorable mention.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN ranks by position yearly, but he bases the rankings on what executives, coaches, and others around the league say. He then has them all rank the players at each position and compiles it together in a consensus ranking. After gathering everything Fowler got, people around the league think Woolen is just outside the top ten cornerbacks in the league.

Here is what Fowler and some anonymous NFL executives think about Woolen:

Tariq Woolen, Seattle Seahawks: His six interceptions in Year 1 were the most by a Seahawks rookie and marked the first time since 2015 that a rookie led or tied for the league lead.

"I had him ranked so high in the draft that when he slipped [to the fifth round] I thought I was wrong," an AFC scout said. "I love him. He can't do everything, ceiling not as high as how he played [in 2022], but he's really the only corner that can run vertically with the Tyreek Hills of the world." – ESPN

That's huge praise, especially the part about being one of the few who can run vertically with Hill, the fastest player in the league and a top-three receiver in the league. Woolen will only get better, too, because his season is impressive, and he did it his first year in the league.

Now you can add in the fact that he will be next to Coby Bryant, Quandre Diggs, and Devon Witherspoon. The Seahawks' secondary will be set up for some time, and a huge reason why is because of Woolen.
