It took longer than anyone expected, but the Detroit Lions finally signed 12th overall pick Jahmyr Gibbs to his rookie on Monday per the teams social media.
We talked last week about how Gibbs' agent Todd France has a history of getting his first round picks signed to their rookie deals near the last minute. He continued that trend with Gibbs getting signed two day before Lions rookies are slated to report to training camp.
The details of Gibbs rookie deal are as follows. He's been signed to a four-deal worth $17.845 million. It's fully a guaranteed deal and includes a signing bonus of $9.978 million. There is also a team option in 2027.
Lions second round pick Brian Branch is now the only Lions draft pick that has not been signed to a rookie deal. With the 19th rapidly approaching, look for that deal to come at any moment now.
