The Detroit Lions not bringing back Justin Jackson immediately after the 2022 season seemed like a questionable decision. After all, Jackson was one of the best kick returners in the league in 2022. He finished sixth in the league in kick return yards. On Friday that questionable tag went away. It seems the Lions will be bringing back Jackson after all.

The Lions already had a running back battle brewing for that RB3 spot. This move only makes that battle more hellacious. This signing also might be a problem for Craig Reynolds. If the Lions decide to carry four running backs like they did in 2022, Mohamed Ibrahim is my favorite to take that third or fourth spot. Jackson should be a shoe in to make the roster with his special teams prowess.

Jackson has been in the league for five seasons. He spent most of that time with the Los Angeles Chargers. There was a time when Jackson looked like he might play a bigger role there, but ultimately they chose not to bring him back. He spent 2022 with the Lions and racked up 170 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. In the return world he racked up 613 yards. He had some nice returns. This one in New York was great.
