The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to stretch the field at a much higher rate in 2023.
That means the chemistry between Kenny Pickett and his pass catchers has to be taken to a new level.
Well, following yesterday's practice, Pickett and one WR just gave us a hint of what's to come:
Kenny Pickett & Calvin Austin Go Deep

One of the players I've been anticipating seeing is Steelers' second-year WR Calvin Austin III. The speedster from Memphis missed out on his rookie season following a year-long injury, but he certainly didn't lose any juice. In fact, he may have gained some:
Many fans get upset with Steelers OC Matt Canada for his use of what we call "Jet Motion." But this is a primary example of why teams utilize it. With the Pittsburgh defense running man-match principles, Austin gets covered by inside linebacker Cole Holcomb, who may be a plus coverage defender but is no match for 4.32 speed.
And most of the league isn't, especially the slot corners or nickel linebackers that Austin will most often be matched up against. He presents a challenge to any defensive coordinator, seemingly adding just another headache for defenses concerned about Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, and Najee Harris.
So far the offense has had the better of the defense early in camp, but that's to be expected. The defense has new names all over the back seven, especially with Minkah Fitzpatrick not participating very much to start.
The battles will be fun, and we'll see who stacks more days together in the coming weeks.
