The Dallas added more firepower to an already promising tight end room with second-round pick Luke Schoonmaker. Unfortunately, his journey has had a shaky start.

Schoonmaker was designated to the non-football injury list earlier this week. However, the details of the ailment have surfaced.

As it stands, Schoonmaker has a partial tear of his plantar fascia, making it more difficult to come back from. Schoonmaker, despite the challenge, isn't letting that curve his enthusiasm for recovery as he hopes to be back practicing within the next week or two.

“It’s been good. I’m just taking a good pace,” Schoonmaker said.

Surgery won't be required for Schoonmaker because the fascia tends to heal on its own. He did have a PRP shot after minicamp which helps deal with damaged joints, ligaments, tendons, and, muscles.

Schoonmaker is set to have a significant role for the Cowboys as a blocker in their 12 personnel look and the passing game so being smart with his injury is the route to take.
