Whether you love him or hate him, Pittsburgh Steelers QB Kenny Pickett is one of the more polarizing prospects in recent memory.
The Steelers fall on the former side of that cliche, but many in the media and throughout the league lean closer to the latter.
And after some recent surveys of NFL scouts, coaches, and decision-makers, the league has seemingly doubled down on their disdain:
Kenny Pickett Ranks Dead Last in First Round QB Prospects, Tiers of QBs

In a recent survey of NFL scouts and members of personnel, ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller ranked first-round QB prospects ranging from 2019-2024.
The exercise was done in large part to see where the incoming crop of QBs (Drake Maye and Caleb Williams) would grade out against the first-rounders of the past five years.
Well, the NFL may be high on those two, but they sure weren't when it comes to Kenny Pickett, ranking him dead last at 18 and behind names like:
- Mac Jones (14)
- Daniel Jones (15)
- Dwayne Haskins (16)
- Jordan Love (17)
“In any other draft, this dude is not a first-rounder,” said one scout who covered Pickett’s time in college. “No way.”-Miller

But the league also isn't very bullish on Kenny Pickett heading into 2023, placing him as a bottom-five QB and in the fourth and final tier of The Athletic's annual QB tiers that were just released.
So it's safe to say the league wasn't fond of Pickett coming out of college, isn't very fond of him now, and in all honesty, probably never will be. But that's ok, because in the words of Jets HC Robert Saleh "If you don't have any hater's you aren't popping."
And Pickett certainly has doubters, but I would venture to say none of them are putting on the black and gold on Sundays. His future in Pittsburgh will largely be defined by what happens this season but for now…
Pittsburgh is all in on Pickett.
