The Baltimore Ravens are going through some growing pains offensively in training camp.
Todd Monken, fresh off back-to-back national championships with the Georgia Bulldogs, saw his offense get dominated at the end of Friday's practice as free blitzers got free on several plays which forced quarterback Lamar Jackson to punt a football and throw his helmet down.
Saturday, it was even worse.
Jackson and the Ravens' quarterbacks threw a total of nine interceptions, with four coming from the former league MVP. It isn't uncommon for offenses to start slower than the defensive side of the ball in training camp, but nine interceptions in one practice is excessive.
One person is choosing to take this dismal performance and turn it into a positive.
"So as an offense, it was really …We were playing uphill today, and I felt like for the first time in this training camp, it was a learning experience," said tight end Isaiah Likely. "I mean, you could say the defense won, but in my head, we don’t really lose, we just learn.”
Baltimore will certainly need to speed up the learning curve in Monken's system with the season just over a month away from commencing.
