The Dallas Cowboys had an eventful day under the California sun on Wednesday during training. Second-year edge rusher Sam Williams beat backup offensive lineman Brock Hoffman with ease during a rep, then things got feisty.
After the two did some hand wrestling, Williams attempted to take a swing at Hoffman, but starting center Tyler Biadasz violently knocked him to the ground, which caused edge rusher DeMarcus Lawrence to shove him.
Later in practice, All-Pro Micah Parsons hit Biadasz as well, which led to another fight. When veteran safety Jayron Kearse was asked about the skirmishes, his response was classic.
"They came for us. So, we ain't taking no s*** from nobody. All 32 teams," Kearse said. "So, if that's what it comes down to. Whether it's our offense or the next offense, we trying to show we the best in the business. It got spicy out here. It's going to get spicy on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, whenever the f*** we got to line up. That's how we going to come."
Whew, that's keeping it real for you.
Dallas is looking to become the first defense since the Pittsburgh Steelers of the 1970s to lead the NFL in turnovers for three consecutive seasons which speaks to the effect that defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has had on that side of the ball.
Quinn is an intense guy who brings a lot of energy. It's trickled down to his players, and they don't mind getting down and dirty, even if it's a teammate.
