Dan Campbell's wish on Chris Jones might be coming true

Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell was on Stoney and Jansen last week and was asked about Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones and his holdout. Campbell seemed quick to wish that Jones holdout would continue.
"Yeah, that’d be great," Campbell said "That'd be great. I love where he’s at right now. Hopefully, we can keep him there."
You can't blame Campbell for hoping that. Jones is one of the best defensive lineman in the game right now. He's coming off a first team All-Pro season. The Lions would have a better shot getting their run game going with Jones out. Well, it seems like that's going to happen after Andy Reid's presser on Wednesday.
Reid said there has been no communication between Jones and the Chiefs or himself. Then he alluded to the idea that the Chiefs are essentially preparing for Jones to not be with the team Week 1 against the Lions.
"I don't know what's going to go on there. Whatever happens, happens. If he's not there, the game goes on right. That's how it works." Reid said. "Yeah, they're working their tail off. I appreciate that. It's similar as if somebody gets hurt. If somebody gets hurt, you've got to go play. That's the approach they've taken. Chris (Jones) isn't here? That's an opportunity for us to play. They've worked their tail off there. It has been impressive to watch."
There's still two weeks before the Lions and Chiefs meetup in the NFL's season opener. Anything can happen between now and then. It wouldn't be the first time we've seen a holdout end at the last minute. Although it should be noted that Jones recently teased that his holdout could continue well into the season. So perhaps that means Jones and the Chiefs are a lot farther apart than we think.
We'll see what happens in the next two weeks, but if Jones isn't there, the Lions could have an edge.
