The Las Vegas Raiders need a better defense. Well, they did have a terrible defense in 2022. 2023 could be much different.

But it's crazy to think of how bad their defense was, yet they have one of the more feared players in the entire NFL. Maxx Crosby is a guy that no one likes to play against because he works everything and does whatever he wants, really.

We all know that; the NFL knows that. However, ESPN thinks he will be worse in 2023 than the near Defensive Player of the Year candidate performance he put up last season.

ESPN thinks Crosby will have a worse season statistically for Raiders

This is Crosby's team now. With nine-year starting quarterback Derek Carr gone, the relentless Crosby — who is coming off a career-high 12.5 sacks, a league-high 22 tackles for a loss, and his second Pro Bowl — has become the Silver and Black's headman, leading by example in training camp. Whether he was giving rookie tight end Michael Mayer a hard time in drills or exhorting the entire team in exhibition games from the sideline, Crosby said he is sick of losing and plans on being the best edge rusher in the game. Signature stat: No player has pressured the quarterback more over the past three seasons than Crosby (177), not even Aaron Donald (149). Crosby's 37.5 sacks are the most by a Raider through 66 career games since 1995. — Paul Gutierrez, ESPN

ESPN, the "World Wide Leader," as they say, in sports, predicts Crosby will finish with 81 tackles and 11 sacks, which is technically worse than last season. They don't think he will only get better than what he did last season.

Think about this: Crosby is in year two of this defensive system under coordinator Patrick Graham, and he has better players around him, such as the secondary, which will only allow the opposing team quarterback to hold the ball longer, forcing more sacks.

But, hey, Crosby keeps track of everything, and this will just end up being fuel to the fire.

Maxx Crosby disrespected by national media once again

The Las Vegas Raiders received a few selections for the Associated Press All-Pro team this week. Josh Jacobs, Davante Adams, and Daniel Carlson all got nods for league's best. Somehow, one of their best players got snubbed, though. Maxx Crosby did not get selected as one of the team's edge rushers. Crosby was one of […]
