The first waiver wire session post-roster cutdown is today, meaning the Pittsburgh Steelers will be looking to add names that other teams no longer want.

But it also means that players Pittsburgh no longer wanted could be on their way to a new team, including one LB who probably could have stuck around.

Pittsburgh Steelers Waiver Claims-Signings:

  • DB Desmond King -Expected to sign (Ian Rapoport, NFL Media)

Former Steelers Claimed by Others

  • LB Tanner Muse – Los Angeles Chargers (The Wire)

Rules of the Waiver Wire:

The waiver order is ordered from worst to first. From the day after the Super Bowl to the start of the fourth week of the NFL season, the order is the same as the first round of that year’s NFL Draft. The order is not affected by any trades so if a draft pick is traded, the order considers the original holder of that selection. Once the final game of Week 3 is played, the waiver claim priority will be based on the reverse order of the current league standings and will continue to update throughout the regular season.

The Steelers hold the 17th spot on the waiver wire claim sheet, meaning they won't exactly have first dibs on the best players that were released, but they could still find some useful players that slip through the cracks.

Move on from Muse:

Pittsburgh released the athletic LB on Monday, and he was the sole Steelers release claimed on Wednesday's waiver wire. He would have been a lock to make the practice squad, so Tanner Muse's departure doesn't come back to bite the Steelers.
