Former Tennessee Vols tight end Princeton Fant wasn't selected in the 2023 NFL Draft, but he was signed shortly after by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent.

The former Vol, who played at Tennessee from 2017 to 2022 (he played for Butch Jones, Jeremy Pruitt, and Josh Heupel), made some noise during training camp with Dallas, but it apparently wasn't enough to hold down a roster spot.

On Tuesday, the Cowboys announced that Fant was one of the players cut ahead of final roster cuts.

Fant has a unique skillset (he can be a blocking tight end, catch the ball, carry the ball out of the backfield, or line up as a fullback), so he should have a good shot at landing with another franchise in a utility/special teams role.

It's also possible that Dallas could bring Fant back as a member of their practice squad.

Making a 53-man roster out of training camp as an undrafted free agent is rare, so this certainly doesn't signal the end of Fant's pro career.

Update:

Dallas has reportedly signed Fant to their practice squad.
