Cam Akers was celebrating in the endzone last week in Seattle. This week, the Rams running back won't even be on the field for their home opener against the 49ers.
Akers was listed among the inactives for the Week 2 game at SoFi Stadium, with Fox Sports' Jay Glazer (h/t ProFootballTalk) reporting the Rams are looking to trade Akers and have contacted other teams in an attempt to make that happen.
While he did score a touchdown against the Seahawks, Akers was ineffective for the most part in Week 1, gaining 29 rushing yards on 22 carries.
Akers, though, expressed surprise at his status for the Niners game, posting on Twitter: "I'm just as confused as everybody else. I'm blessed though."
While Akers was essentially benched, rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua was listed as active following a superb start to his career.
Nacua had 10 catches for 119 yards in his NFL debut but had been listed as questionable with an oblique injury.
He will play against the 49ers, however, and will look to become only the third rookie since the merger to record back-to-back 100-yard games in the first two weeks of the season.
Also listed as inactive were running back Zach Evans, offensive linemen Kevin Dotson and Warren McClendon Jr, and defensive end Desjuan Johnson.
Which broadcast team is calling the 49ers-Rams game in Week 2?
It’s not a top crew, but it’s a good one.
