The Vikings have an obvious answer to their RB woes

The Minnesota Vikings have been the worst rushing team in the league through two weeks. The team is averaging a measly 34.5 yards on the ground per game, which is 14 yards per game less than the 31st-ranked Steelers.

Last season, the Vikes averaged 95.7 rushing yards per game, and even that was near the bottom of the league. Now, 95.7 rushing yards per game seems like a pipe dream.

However, there is one obvious solution to the team's troubles.

Kareem Hunt is still a free agent. The veteran running back spent the last four seasons with the Cleveland Browns and was a Pro Bowler back in 2017. Hunt is known as one of the best receiving backs in the league and still has blazing speed.

Bringing in Hunt would give Alexander Mattison a perfect compliment and take some of the pressure off. Mattison has been unable to get much going this season due to the line being unable to get any push at all. With a shifty playmaker like Hunt, that may be less of an issue.

In 2022, Hunt collected 468 yards and 3 TDs on the ground and added 35 catches for 235 yards through the air. Keep in mind, this was with Hunt playing a backup role to Nick Chubb. If Hunt were signed by Minnesota, he'd likely be in a 50/50 timeshare with Mattison.

There is some merit to this connection as well. The veteran RB visited with the team back in August but no deal was reached.

The Vikings recently signed a veteran who visited over the summer, so it's not out of the question that Hunt is revisited as well. The line should be improved with the addition of Dalton Risner, and adding Hunt would immediately improve the run game.
