The Detroit Lions had a lot of injuries coming out of their Week 2 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. They already elevated Zonovan Knight, Kayode Awosika and Chase Lucas to the 53 man roster, but they've left one spot open all week. That spot is now filled.

With C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Kerby Joseph out, the Lions are elevating undrafted rookie safety Brandon Joseph for Sunday's game against the Falcons. This will be Joseph's first regular season game of his career.

For me, Joseph was a guy that I thought was an early shoe in to make the Lions roster when they picked him up after the 2023 NFL Draft. I saw a lot of C.J. Moore type ability in him and it made sense that he could fill in Moore's role after Moore got suspended for the year for violating the leagues gambling policy and then released by the Lions.

We'll see how much Joseph will play in this game and how much he'll be targeted very soon. Good luck to him on his first game.

As for Skipper, Looks like the Lions are looking for a little bit of insurance along the offensive line. We all know that Skipper can be that. Skipper has been around the NFL since 2017 and has spent time with seven different teams. It's his four stints with the Lions that he's known for. Skipper has played 29 games and started five of them. All five of those starts were with the Lions last season.

While he did do some work at guard last year, that was more of an emergency type thing. Look for Skipper to flex in as a tackle for this game. Maybe he can come in and give Matt Nelson some plays off here and there.
