The Detroit Lions will play their first divisional game of the season in just a few hours when they head to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers. But first, as all teams do before the game, the team made a handful of maneuvers with their roster. Here they are:

Matt Nelson moves to injured reserve

No shocker here. Nelson got hurt against the Falcons on Sunday and Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell informed us on Monday that he would require surgery and be out for a while. We'll see how long his absence will last.

Signed Darrel Daniels to active roster from practice squad

This one happened on Wednesday, but the team made it official on Thursday. The belief here is that he could be coming in to replace Jason Cabinda as the teams fullback since he has some experience in that realm and is a better run blocker. He's a guy that I don't see returning to the practice squad when it's all said and done.

Elevate Connor Galvin and Brandon Joseph from practice squad to active/inactive list

What this means is that both players are elevated from the practice squad for just this game. They are not signed to the Lions 53 man roster. This is the same thing that happened last season when James Houston was initially elevated. The Lions then immediately signed him to their 53 man roster after his big game.

Galvin is the one I'm really interested in. I thought he had a great camp and preseason and had looked better than Matt Nelson in my opinion. Back in August I had him as my dark horse to make the Lions 53-man roster.  With Decker expected to play and Sewell returning back to the right side, I wouldn't expect Galvin to see the field tonight. But he's a guy that the Lions should look to hold onto for the future. Which, of course, it already looks like they're doing.

Despite report, David Montgomery and Taylor Decker WILL Play against Packers

What a day it has been for Detroit Lions fans. They woke up bright and early with optimism in their hearts and then was immediately disappointed when NFL Network's Tom Peliserro dropped the news that both Taylor Decker and David Montgomery would not play Thursday night and that Emmanuel Moseley would make his debut.  This […]
