4 winners and 3 losers from Lions vs Packers
Is there anything else like beating the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field? If there is, I haven't had it. The Detroit Lions had a dominant showing against the Packers on Thursday night. They walked out with a 34-20 win. There was a lot to like about this game, but there was also some stuff […]

There was a lot to like about this game, but there was also some stuff to really dislike. I have four winners and three losers from Thursdays night.
Winner: David Montgomery

Less than two weeks ago David Montgomery was carted off the field with a thigh injury. The initial timeline set by Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell was a few weeks. Montgomery missed one game and then came back in this one and went off. Montgomery ran for 121 yards and three touchdowns in this game. He makes a really big difference in the Lions run game as you can see.
Loser: Ryan Fitzpatrick

Maybe you missed it Thursday night. Former NFL quarterback, turned TV personality, Ryan Fitzpatrick came out and called Jared Goff a poor man’s Matt Ryan. That’s such a weird thing to say from a guy that’s not on Goff or Matt Ryan’s level at all. Goff came out for the post game show and rightfully called him out for it. So Fitzpatrick says something dumb and then get’s embarrassed for being dumb. Solid night for him.
Winner: Isaiah Buggs

What a roller coaster this season has been for Buggs. He get’s benched for the first two weeks of the season and then finally get’s a shot to show it and had a big sack on Thursday night. You could just see the pressure come off his shoulders in the moment. A lot of times these stories to work out well. This one seems to be going the right way.
Loser: Brian Branch

Brian Branch didn’t do anything wrong. He actually had another good game. The reason he’s in this category is that he may lose some time after this game and that is a bummer for a kid that was very much in the Defensive Player of the Year conversation.
The good news is that nothing is broken. The x-rays came back negative. Now we wait to see if he's good to go next week when the Lions are back at practice.
Winner: Alim McNeill

McNeill just doesn’t get enough attention for the season that he’s having right now. He’s had a sack in the last two games and he’s also stopping the run quite well. The Lions have been very good against the run this season and McNeill is a big part of why. Turns out that dropping some weight in the offseason in order to be faster worked.
Loser: Clocks

What a toughs break for clocks. They found out on Thursday that they don’t matter. This is really a two prong problem.
The first is that they have seven officials officiating this game and nobody blew the whistle when the third quarter ended and the Packers snapped the ball after time expired. This gave the Packers a huge chunk play for free. Even if it was a 2-yard gain, you still have to catch that.
The other problem is that for some weird reason, that only the NFL can explain, this is not reviewable. So that's it. Teams just have to deal with it and move on because there's no course of action on this despite the sport using a clock since the early 1900's. It's not like this is the first time this has happened.
Winner: Dan Campbell

Dan Campbell has come in to Detroit and slayed the bogeyman. The Packers have been the class of this division for years and they’ve beating the Lions a lot along the way. That is not the case anymore. Campbell has won four of the five games he’s coached against this team. On Thursday night, Dan Campbell became the first coach in four decades to beat the Packers four times in a row. Four decades! That’s a pretty big deal.
Lions vs Packers: Immediate reactions
Well, that wasn't the trip to Green Bay that the Detroit Lions have been used to throughout their history. The Lions went in and flat out dominated. They took the lead in the first quarter and never looked back in their 34-20 win over the Green Bay Packers. Their fourth in a row. As always, […]
