Fantasy football managers are already pretty upset about the way that the Detroit Lions have used rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs. I have news for them. Much like the Lions don't care about positional value in the draft, they don't care about your fantasy team either.

The Lions are a team in every aspect of the word. They're all about working as a committee instead of putting everything on a handful of guys. That's probably a good reason why this team has ascended so fast and why they're so good right now. It's because they have a philosophy like this:

"Man we are by committee." Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell said. "The way that we've had production, it's taken all us. That o-line is important to us, and our skill guys stepping up. That's from tight ends to backs to receivers and so everybody's got a job to do. And your number will get get get called at a certain time. But you know, we're not a one guys carrying a load. That's not how we work here."

I mean that says it all right there. This is a team that's all about being a team. You can see in that regard why the culture is so high in Detroit. Every man matters as opposed to the stars mattering a lot and the other guys mattering in other ways.

These answers came in response to a question about Jameson Williams, but the same thing can be said for Jahmyr Gibbs. The team has a enough good players and a strong enough team where they can take their time with players and not have to worry about throwing them directly into the deep end.

I know the world is worried about stats and everything, but that seems to be the last thing on Campbell's mind right now.

"Honestly for me, it's dependability and reliability." Campbell said after being asked what would be a successful season for Williams would look like. "Get lined up. Know where you're supposed to be. We're gonna get the depth out of you and we can count on you to be where you're supposed to be when you're supposed to be there and that's it. That's it. I'm not looking for yards. I'm not looking for explosives. I'm not looking for touchdowns. Man, just be a reliable receiver like any of those guys in the room. That's it. We're about winning. It's not about one player. And that'll help us win."

I mean wow. The Lions want to be the 2004 Pistons. Every man has a job and when they all do that job, the team wins. When you try to rely on a handful of people to do all of the jobs, that's when you turn into the 2004 Lakers and you ultimately lose. Sometimes that can be overlooked if the talent is too great, but it's really hard to beat a team that's working in unison like this.

As far as your fantasy teams go, trade some Lions away if it makes you feel better. The Lions only care about their wins.

The Lions have a plan for Jameson Williams this week

It's here Detroit Lions fans. It's a couple weeks early, but it's here. Jameson Williams' suspension is up and he returned to the Lions on Monday. So what's the plan for him? Are they going to throw him directly into the fray or are they going to ease him in? After Dan Campbell's presser on […]
