Revenge is nice isn't it? Last season the Lions went into Carolina with their playoff hopes in sight and the Panthers beat the hell out of them. This time it was the Lions that were doing the beating in a 42-24 win. You have to love when your team drops a 40 burger.

As always, I have thoughts on this game. These are those thoughts:

Jared Goff Report

Our weekly Goff report is in. The guy balled out yet again. Goff was deadly all day. The Lions didn't pass the ball a ton, but when they did, Goff was able connect with his guys. He finished the day going 20-28 for 236 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a rushing touchdown. You know, something that Goff does all the time. He's like the next Mike Vick.

Taketh thine prolate spheroid away from thy

Did you guys know that I totally know archaic Shakespeare language? If thee didn't knoweth, thee knoweth now. Anyways, the Lions did a lot of things in the taketh department in this game. They had two interceptions and a fumble recovery in the first half alone.

This defense has just been something else this season. In the last three weeks they've been able to stop the run, hit the quarterback and take the ball a way at a rate that would be scary if it were done by the a team the Lions were about to play.

Jamo Block

Here's your "stop questioning Jameson Williams competitiveness" moment. Take a look at the blocking by Williams on David Montgomery's 42 yard touchdown run.

Dude just manhandles his man there. That's a solid showing for sure.

David Montgomery

Montgomery was back at it again in Week 5. The Lions just love running this guy. You can see why. He's a bruising running back that has great field vision. That's why he's been able to score six touchdowns this season. Montgomery went over 100 yards in back to back games. As you know, that's not a thing that has happened a lot in Detroit since Barry Sanders retired. Only two other running backs have so and that's Kevin Jones in 2004 and D'Andre Swift in 2021.

Montgomery finished the day with 109 yards and a touchdown.

Hutchinson has the coolest looking picks

He just sort of reaches out there and grabs it. If you thought that Aidan Hutchinson picking off quarterbacks was something that wasn't going to continue, you're wrong. This Lions defensive lineman is a ball hawk. That's right, a ball hawking defensive lineman.

Samson LaPorta ladies and gentlemen

Samuel was cool, I like Samson more because he gets this Lions team lifted. LaPorta had himself another big day on Sunday. It was all highlighted by his big 31 yard touchdown. LaPorta is quickly knocking down the door of Offensive Rookie of the Year and letting everyone know that he should be in the conversation. He finished the day with three catches for 47 yards and two touchdowns.

Jamo Drop

Sometimes it feels like there's a section of Lions fans that want a player to fail so badly that they sit on the very edge of their seats just waiting for something bad to happen and then when it does, they have some sort of orgasmic high? I don't know. Yeah, he dropped a pass. Go clean yourself up and let's move on. Williams was targeted three times on Sunday and he caught two of them. He also barely played.

Craig Reynolds

We don't usually talk a lot about Craig Reynolds. Maybe that's the problem. Maybe that's why Reynolds came into this game in the fourth quarter and ran the ball like a guy that wanted to remind everyone that he's still here. He ran for 52 yards and his first career touchdown.

Will Smith is here?

I feel like they this one was targeted directly at me. I'm of course talking about the fact that I'm the biggest Fresh Prince of Bel-Air fan that has ever lived. So when I heard the commentators call Will Harris Will Smith, I looked up from my computer. Sadly Will Smith was not there. If anyone needs me, I'll be watching the show as I do once a year ever year.

Will Smith don't gotta cuss in his raps to sell records, but this guy does

Cool to see Eminem at the game on Sunday. A lot better than that other guy that grew up in a mansion in Romeo. You know, the guy that wanted you to believe he grew up on the streets of Detroit during the first part of his career and now wants you to believe he grew up in a trailer park in the second half.

Keeping Chandler Zavala in my thoughts

Football is fun and it's fun to talk smack to the other team and what not, but when things like this happen, you remember that everyone is human just like you. I'm really hoping that everything ok with Zavala. Looking forward to a positive update. Until then, he'll be in thoughts.
