You hate to see this happen to a player. Especially a player that there were some significant hopes for. Detroit Lions running back Zonovan Knight is now reportedly out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.
Knight went down after a hard run against the Carolina Panthers in the second half on Sunday. He looked hurt immediately and was taken off the field by trainers that were holding his left arm in an attempt to stabilize it. He was carted to the locker room from there.
Knight was elevated from the Lions practice squad after David Montgomery went down for a week with thigh injury. Knight never went back the practice squad and it looked like he was on his way to being the Lions running back three for the foreseeable future.
Where this leaves things now is going to be undetermined for a while, but there should be a chance that Knight gets another shot with the team next year.
Knight has not been officially moved to injured reserve by the team yet. I would expect that to happen on Saturday along with Emmanuel Moseley and the corresponding moves to replace both of them on the roster. We'll have that news for you as soon as it drops.
