This season has been underwhelming for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Let me rephrase that: the second half of the season has been underwhelming. The Jaguars are now on a four-game losing streak after having a five-game winning streak earlier in the year.
This is almost the exact opposite of what happened last season, where the Jaguars finished the season strong and started the season terribly. A lot of that has to do with the injuries the Jaguars have sustained since the Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Before that game, they were nearly fully healthy. After the game, the injuries, including Trevor Lawrence, have been raining in. He has since had a high ankle sprain, a concussion, and now a shoulder sprain. There is a great chance he could miss Week 17.
By now, that seems like the most ideal thing, as Lawrence is playing too hurt. His body needs a break, and the Jaguars should be confident in C.J. Beathard beating the Carolina Panthers.
On Tuesday, Pederson gave an update on Lawrence:
"Trevor is progressing, obviously. He is a little bit sore, but doing better today than he did yesterday, and, you know, we will see where he is at again tomorrow," Pederson said. "It is a little bit early to tell. May do a little something tomorrow, but I would doubt that tomorrow. Just because it's a little bit too soon, but we will see it as the week goes on."
You need your franchise QB for the future more than right now.
