While day one and two of the NFL Draft tends to steal the spotlight, it's day three that elevates the good from the great in the NFL.
That's because the backend of the roster is where championship teams really show their merit, and that portion is built on day three.
And if Pittsburgh can manage to grab this crop of players, they may be setting themselves up very well:
The Steelers should draft Notre Dame CB Cam Hart with the 120th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft
Hart had a fantastic week in Indy and one that included a meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He fits the mold of the CB prototype that Pittsburgh continues to model after with the likes of Joey Porter Jr. and Cory Trice in last year's draft.
After running a 4.5 flat, jumping nearly 40' vertically, and nearly 11 feet in the broad, Hart turned heads in the on-field drills given how gracious his movements were in his 6'3, 202-pound frame.
Something tells me that Hart may be gone before day three, but if he's anywhere close to pick 120, Pittsburgh needs to make a move.
The Steelers should draft Ohio State LB Tommy Eichenberg with the 121st overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft
Eichenberg also met with Pittsburgh at the combine and posted one of the best short times of any lb at 4.24 seconds, only .01 seconds behind his college teammate Steele Chambers for the best at the event. With proven pedigree and production, along with a need to add depth at inside linebacker, a Big-10 LB in the fourth round just screams Steelers.
The Steelers should draft Michigan EDGE Braiden McGregor with the 197th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft
McGregor was unable to participate in the drills and athletic testing due to a sprained ankle he suffered at the Senior Bowl, but he's an ideal fit for the Steelers strong-side pass rusher in their scheme and has the background they covet in later-round picks.
The Steelers should draft Florida State DL Fabien Lovett with the 238th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft
If Lovett gets anywhere close to the 238th overall pick, Pittsburgh has to sprint in the card to select him given his outstanding measurables and proven play at the power five level.
