Earlier this week, ESPN college football analyst and McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning show host Greg McElroy picked the "scariest game" for each SEC program in 2025.

The former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback went with a very under-the-radar game for the Tennessee Vols.

McElroy thinks the Vols' trip to Starkville to play the Mississippi State Bulldogs in late September could be tricky for Tennessee.

"I think on the road at Mississippi State," said McElroy of Tennessee's scariest game this fall. "This is a game where nobody's really going to give Tennessee credit for getting a win in Starkville. But those of us that know the league, or people listening to this show, you know going to Starkville is no easy task. Now, last year [at home against Mississippi State] was manageable [for Tennessee]. But I do think that [Mississippi State] has a chance to be better. I do think that group has a chance to score points.

"If it becomes a shootout, do you trust (Vols QB) Joey Aguilar to go into a hostile environment and deliver what [Tennessee] might need? You might need 40 or you might need 35 to win that game. Do you think he can do it? I hope he can, but I think that's one that's a little dicey. If you lose to Georgia, understandable. You lose at Alabama, understandable. You lose against Oklahoma, understandable. But you lose at Mississippi State in a game that you're expected to be getting a W? That's no guaranteed [win]. So I think that's a tough road trip for Tennessee."

Playing on the road in the SEC is never easy — especially at night (Tennessee's game against Mississippi State will start at either 3:30 to 4:30 PM ET or 6:00 to 8:00 PM ET).

The Vols are a much better team than Mississippi State. But that alone won't guarantee Tennessee a win in Starkville.
