Ty Simpson's electrifying message to Alabama fans proves he's the right man for the starting quarterback job in 2025
Alabama’s projected starter at quarterback, Ty Simpson, has a message for Tide fans that you won’t want to miss.
Ty Simpson has waited his turn. After sitting behind Jalen Milroe for the past two seasons, the former five-star recruit is ready to take hold of Alabama's starting quarterback job and help lead the Crimson Tide to another College Football Playoff appearance.
Alabama's fall camp is set to get underway exactly one week from today, and that's where Simpson will need to show his coaches and teammates that he is, in fact, the right man for the job after leading the battle exiting the spring. If his current approach is any indication, he's already proving that he's the correct choice.
On Tuesday, QB Reps on Instagram showed a quick interview with Simpson, and the redshirt junior framed up the perfect message to any Alabama fans who are wondering what to expect from him in 2025.
“When I get on the field, Alabama fans should know that I’m going to do everything it takes to win,” Simpson said in the interview. “I’m going to make sure that I’m the toughest guy on the field. I’m going to make sure that I win. I’m going to make sure that I know everything that’s coming. And I’m going to get the guys around me the ball.”
You couldn't ask for a better message, as Simpson touched on just about everything that you'd want from a quarterback.
Like any fanbase, Alabama fans want to win, first and foremost. But things are at their best when your quarterback is one of the toughest players on your team. Former Alabama and national championship-winning signal-caller Jake Coker comes to mind as a perfect example. Not only does that toughness earn the respect of your teammates and coaches, but it also makes you a beloved player by the fanbase.
It's also important to highlight the last line in that quote. "And I'm going to get the guys around me the ball."
Look, Alabama has playmakers on offense.
The wide receiver room has seen drastic improvement with the additions of guys such as Miami transfer Isaiah Horton, true freshman Lotzeir Brooks and returning pieces from injuries such as Jalen Hale and Cole Adams. The tight end room now features a catch-first option in Josh Cuevas to go with several other new faces, including Brody Dalton (Troy), Jack Sammarco (West Virginia) and two true freshmen. Plus, the running back room remains deep and capable.
Alabama needs a quarterback who can get those guys the football and allow them to make plays. Jalen Milroe was a dynamic playmaker, no doubt about it. And when he was able to be successful, opposing defenses had an incredibly difficult time slowing down the Crimson Tide's offense. But one area where he sometimes fell short was taking advantage of those playmakers around him.
Simpson hopes to bring a more consistent approach, and his entire message says he's ready to be Alabama's guy after sitting for the last three years. Patience is a virtue, especially in today's college football — and Simpson seems poised to take advantage of that patience.
Alabama is loaded at quarterback with Austin Mack and freshman Keelon Russell filling out the room. Mack possesses untapped potential and Russell feels like a surefire superstar for the future. But for now, Simpson is exactly the type of leader the Crimson Tide need in their quest for a first national title under head coach Kalen DeBoer.
