Here's a guy who has always been brought up along the Detroit Lions for what seems like years now. Any time the Lions need an edge rusher, someone is there to suggest they sign Jadeveon Clowney.
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox suggested on Thursday that the Lions are one of the best potential landing spots for the former first overall draft pick.

Personally, the idea of signing Clowney didn't make sense to me after the Panthers made him a cap casualty back in May. Of course, at that time, the Lions still had Levi Onwuzurike, and Josh Paschal wasn't expected to be on the PUP until September. Plus, it was expected that Za'Darius Smith could be back. That hasn't happened yet either. So now Clowney in Detroit makes some sense.
It's not like he's been a bad player. Even at 32 years old, Clowney had a decent season for the Panthers in 2024. He put up 44 pressures and six sacks. He's not the All-Pro or Pro Bowl guy he once was, but he's also not a shell of his former self either. He can still play.
If it comes down to it, and the Lions have the choice between Smith coming back and signing Clowney, they should absolutely run it back with Smith, but Clowney is still an option that can help if they can't come to terms with Smith. He'd be a guy worth having in the building. Now, if you somehow do both, that's cool too. But super unlikely.
Chris Spielman told Kelvin Sheppard he’s bringing a certain something to the Lions that he’s never seen in the last four years
The Detroit Lions lost their long-time defensive coordinator, Aaron Glenn, to the New York Jets head coaching job this offseason, and in his place, the Lions promoted Kelvin Sheppard. This move surprised absolutely nobody. If you watched the Lions on Hard Knocks in 2022, you've known for a long time that this guy was going […]
