Sooners made it into the top 12 for 2027 recruit who could be the next Travis Hunter as a weapon and in the trenches

The Oklahoma Sooners are in a position where they could get a two-way player for their 2027 class. Right now, they don't have any players committed to their 2027 class, but it's still extremely early.
This will be new general manager Jim Nagy's first full cycle in recruiting for the Sooners, as he was hired near the end of the 2026 cycle. And, based on some of the players we have seen them have some interest in, the Sooners could have a pretty good class in 2027.
Abd, it could start with two-way high school star Krew Jones.
Sooners land in top 12 for Krew Jones
Krew Jones is a player who could end up being like Travis Hunter, the Jacksonville Jaguars' two-way player who played offense and defense full time last season for Colorado. But that's only if there is a team willing to let him play both sides of the ball at the next level.
A four-star edge rusher from the class of 2027, Jones is one of Utah’s top football prospects, if not the best prospect in the state, playing for Ridgeline High School in Millville. He plays tight end, too, and has the size and developmental traits to play it at the next level. But, if there's a position he will make the most money at the next level, it's on the edge.
At 6'4" and 220 pounds, he actually has the size for both positions. 247Sports ranks him No. 138 overall, No. 18 edge rusher, and No. 1 in Utah. In his sophomore year, he recorded 93 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, six forced fumbles, six pass deflections, 12 receptions for 206 yards, three receiving touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown.
He has nearly 30 scholarship offers from schools like Ohio State, Oregon, USC, Florida State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, BYU, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Washington, and UCLA. Jones named a top 12 list in 2025, including Florida State, Ohio State, Oregon, and BYU. He visited Ohio State in April 2025, impressed by their coaching and defensive line development.
He also competed at the UA Next Combine in Ohio and the Polynesian Bowl combine in Las Vegas, showing his skills against some of the top competition in the country. His high motor and quick first step make him a standout, and by 2027, when it's time for him to put pen to paper, he could end up being a five-star player.
The Sooners need help in their recruiting with both positions he plays, but they usually recruit edge rusher heavy, especially in the Brent Venables era. But, once again, this is Jim Nagy running the show now, and 2027 will be his first full cycle. And, we really haven't gotten the full Jim Nagy experience yet when it comes to recruiting.
Oklahoma Sooners aiming to rebuild quarterback pipeline with potential future of the program in 2027 recruiting class
After establishing a terrific pipeline of quarterbacks to the NFL with Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Jalen Hurts, the Oklahoma Sooners have hit a bit of a cold streak in recent years. While multiple transfers out, such as Caleb Williams and Spencer Rattler, have impacted that, the truth is that it's been five years since […]
