NASHVILLE — Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis has elected to undergo season‑ending shoulder surgery. After dealing with lingering pain stemming from an AC joint injury sustained in the opening quarter of Week 4 against Miami last season, Levis feels it was in his best interest to focus on long-term recovery.

After being named a full-time starter in 2024, Levis struggled before sustaining the AC joint issue and missing three games as a result.

Levis never fully recovered from injury despite being a full participant in the offseason program.

The 2023 second-round pick felt physically fine through Spring and Summer, despite losing his job to 2025 No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward. The obvious ripple effects of Levis’ decision remove any doubt that the job is Ward’s for the taking. It also keeps the team from being able to try and trade Levis to recoup what has essentially been a sunk cost after building around him and cratering with a 3-14 record in 2024.

The decision being the player’s, and not the team’s makes the circumstance all the more interesting. Levis’ surgery is scheduled for July 29th.

“I think anyone who has ever been in my situation can agree that it sucks,” Levis said of the last 12 months. “I’m trying to do everything I can to not let it affect me and just be the same dude every day in the building and being here for the guys. I’m just trying to get better every day.”

Without Levis, Tennessee’s current quarterback room consists of Ward, Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle. Titans players report for camp on July 22.
